As I putter, and produce, and reject, and try again, I’m seeing certain colors pop up over & over. Teals — not so surprising. Soft yellows? Sure. But then there are the pinks. Pink!? Me?? Where does this come from?
I see palette ideas everywhere I look, but somehow I usually skip pinks and purples. So girly, so not me, the warm color person. I’m far more drawn to fall colors but, around here, it’s spring in full bloom. And all around me are pinks.
Here’s an example. I use Instagram to log whatever catches my eye, to save for later, or to document my process, right? Here’s what I’ve been recording:

Some serious pinks out there in the wild! Another example? I use Pinterest to scan for ideas and inspiration. If a piece catches my eye solely on its use of color, onto my Palette board it goes.

So, it’s inevitable, I guess. I still love warm colors, but pinks, and other soft, spring-like colors, are making their way onto my palette. Here are some of the composite colors I’ll be leaning on in my upcoming work.

Now, I just need to figure out how to put them to work! Stay tuned…
